Make beautiful small round boxes on your mini-lathe with his two piece mandrel system. Drilling a 1-1/4" hole up to 3" deep then turning your stock on the long bottom mandrel makes the box bottom A. The box lid consists of two parts, an insert piece B that slides into the container and another that is the decorative exterior top C. The lid components are made on the lid mandrelthey are attached to the mandrel stud with treaded inserts. After turning to size, the lid components are screwed together D. A thin piece of cork is available to simplify using the lid insert. The whole process results in an easy to make, concentric and attractive project.
Use Spindle Stock 2" x 2" x 12" on page 21, each blank makes 2 boxes.
