Premium Stabilized Hand Picked Pen Blanks from Barry Gross
These stabilized pen blanks will make your pens “pop” and your customers drool! Each piece of burl is inspected and hand selected by Barry to ensure the highest quality for your pen. His search takes him from the forests of Oregon and Washington State to the bogs in Massachusetts and Tennessee to find the most unique and superb wood that make up these fine pen blanks. No two pen blanks are alike and that is how Mother Nature intended it to be!
Barry Gross is a highly respected pen maker. He’s published over 50 articles in several woodworking magazines, is an author of three books on turning and is frequently a guest speaker / presenter at many woodworking shows and turning clubs throughout the northeast. Barry was commissioned from the White House to make pens for former Vice President Cheney and his pens can be found in the pockets of Steven Spielberg, Greg Norman, and more.
Stabilized wood has been processed with a resin material.This process can be useful to strengthen punky areas, and it will limit expansion and shrinkage due to changes in humidity and help it resist rot. The stabilizing process does not fill voids.
Stabilized blanks can be worked on a lathe, using standard woodworking techniques and tooling with light touches.
